My new love affair....Anointment Natural Skin Care

Disclaimer: I did not receive free product in exchange for this review nor was I asked to write a review by this company.  These opinions are my own.

A few weeks ago I was shopping at By Nature in search of a few...things...okay I was there looking at diapers.  Sue me.

I was chatting with one of the ladies about needing a new CD safe diaper cream.  She ran through the options that the store carried and pointed out that one of the companies had changed their labeling and they were clearing out the old at discounted prices.  While the diaper cream wasn't on sale a similar product, also safe for CD and more importantly Emmett's bum, was.

I purchased Soothing Skin Ointment and Shea Butter Cream that fateful day.  Fell in love and then added to my collection.

This great product you ask?  Anointment Natural Skin Care.

Things I love?  Canadian made!  From the East Coast in New Brunswick these products are made by hand.  Certified organic materials that are hand grown.  Natural and safe.

I sent off a quick comment to the shop owner, April, telling her that I loved the product!  She sent a very friendly return with some super helpful tips!

Since them my product stash has grown to include a number of her handcrafted, natural soaps (for me and Emmett), Baby Balm and lip balm.

My order plus a few goodies she included!

Om Shanti smells divine.  I was hesitant to order it because I often don't like the "fake" smell of coffee and chocolate in products.  Not the case.  Included in my order was a sample bar of this amazing, signature scent.  I have since purchased a full bar from a local vendor!  I love that you get a gentle exfoliation with each wash too!

Lemon Poppyseed smells good enough to eat.

I was worried after my first shower that as with most bar soaps I could feel my skin tightening and drying out - this lasted briefly and then my skin felt silky smooth!  Craig said my legs felt like they were freshly shaved...and I assure you they were not!

I also purchased Baby Calendula for Emmett.  It is mild, unscented (although I'm convinced I can smell a natural flower garden - which is lovely).  It leaves his skin feeling so soft.

Skin Soothing Ointment worked great on the mosquito bites I brought home with me from Haliburton a few weeks ago!  I barely suffered from any uncomfortable itch and the bites cleared up much quicker than usual!  The ultimate test will be next weekend when we take Emmett camping for the first time!  I like knowing that I have a natural remedy to tote along!

I know I will be a long time customer of this great company and I can't wait to cross of the "must tries" on my list!

I highly recommend checking out the companies website and getting yourself some of these wonderful products!  Or check out By Nature in Orillia who are a local retailer!

If I could give them 6 stars...oh wait, I can it's my blog!!  Lets call it a 5+ Star!

Shop Local

I am definitely not a rock star in the shop local movement.  However, there are certain stores in or near our city that we try to frequent for certain items.

It is so sad to see your favorite little businesses go under because the big, evil box stores (Walmart I am looking at you) can offer a much more competitive price or selection.  At what cost though?

Customer Service?
Product Knowledge?
Loyalty?

Don't think so.

I was going to include annoying customers (think...http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/) but I suppose this is beyond the control of any company...and my purpose of this post is not to bash Walmart!

On Tuesday Emmett and I made the short trip up to By Nature in Orillia.  A friend referred me to this store while I was pregnant with Emmett and starting up my CD stash.  At first I spent lots of time on their website browsing, filling and emptying and filling my cart again with cloth diapers, pregnancy teas and lotions and other random things.

Finally, I decided I need to take the trip to Orillia and check out the store.

Ahhh...love.

We've been back many, many times.

It's a small and simple shop on a side street in Orillia (just off Memorial if you are familiar with the area!).  The shelves are filled with natural and organic baby products, pregnant and Mommy products, toys and more.

We have purchased probably close to 1/3 of our diaper stash here.  As well as all our laundry detergent, wet bags, swim diapers, teas for during and after pregnancy, our baby carrier and more from this lovely shop!

I could go on and on and on.

The shop owner, Tamara, is a wonderful lady.  She and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the products that they sell.  They are never to busy to answer your questions and if the shop isn't busy you might just end up with all the ladies working helping you to answer your questions.

Tuesday Emmett and I, okay mainly I, went in with a purpose.  I needed more Hard Rock, a medium sized Sling Sister wet bag with dry pocket of course and I needed advice on a new diapering system for our outings.  Especially since my goal of disposable free by September is getting closer!

Tamara helped us figure out what we needed and even helped to save some money by using the stash that we have at home!  I will be blogging about our new system soon!

Each of the three ladies working that day helped us out with something!  From finding products on the shelves, to explaining the benefits of certain creams and finding a new diaper system!

They even made funny faces at Emmett, which of course was his favorite part, other than the giant fan they have on the ceiling.

Okay, this is getting long.  I'm probably going to have to do another post on this wonderful store...okay, I know for sure I will be doing another post on this store!

Make sure you check them out either in Orillia or online bynature.ca!
My haul ;)
